Paenibacillus Larvae Bacterin

INDICATIONS

For the vaccination of queen honeybees to prime larvae against mortality due to Paenibacillus larvae. This product license is conditional; efficacy and potency have not been fully demonstrated. For more information regarding safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

Each vial contains 3 ml of bacterin, which is sufficient for 50 doses when mixed into queen candy.

‍DIRECTIONS

Shake well before using. To be administered with queen feed (queen candy) 8 days prior to placing the queen in a new hive. Mix the contents of one product bottle with 300 g of prepared queen candy. Add 6 g of product/candy mix to each queen cage. Do not mix with other products, except as specified on the label.

Administer the vaccine as follows:

01. Queen candy is made using corn syrup and powdered sugar at a ratio of 1 to 7.5 (weight for weight). Three hundred (300) g of queen candy is prepared using 265 g sugar and 35 g/25 ml corn syrup to which one bottle of product is blended.

02. Shake the product bottle to ensure the vaccine is evenly suspended.

03. Tear open the aluminum seal and carefully lift off the rubber stopper from the product bottle.

04. Add the contents of the product bottle to 300 g (10.6 oz.) of queen candy.

05. Mix well, ensuring even distribution.

06. Add 6 g (1/5 oz.) to each queen cage.

07. Note: only queen candy mixed with vaccine should be available to the queen bee and attendants.

08. Allow queens and attendants to feed for a period of 8 days prior to releasing into hives.

‍CAUTION

Store at 2–8 ºC (35º–46ºF). DO NOT FREEZE. Use entire contents when opened. Dispose of any unused vaccine according to local and federal regulations.
